National Taikai 2012

Minato Dojo Team success at the 2012 BKA National Iaido Taikai.

(Missing from photo - Darren Launceston - he is camera shy!)

On 14th July 2012 five members of Minato Dojo entered the 2012 National Iaido Takai.

We competed in the Mudan, Shodan, Nidan and Yondan divisions, and entered one team.

All our competitors made it through the pools, and into the knockout rounds.

Particular successes went to Kris Gooding - Silver in Mudan division (she should of won, but seemed to create her own kata instead of No 10!) Kris won all her initial pool rounds 3 flags to nil, inclusive of the person she lost to in the final. She also won the Fighting Spirit award for Mudan. Well done Kris. Another rising star form Minato?

Wayne Edgar won Bronze in the Yondan Division.

Wayne, Darren Launceston and Dave Bentley competed in the team event winning Bronze. Dave Bentley won the Fighting Spirit award for Nidans in the Team events.

Congratulations to all, for a great showing.

Birmingham 2012 Seminar Photos

Well done to Kris and Wayne for placing 1st in their respective divisions, and to to Darren and Hugh for their 3rd places. (Darren you need to shorten your hakama!)

With the entry of Phil Kirkby and Steve Fitzpatrick the Minato Dojo and Minato Kawa Dojo  combination made a great impression.

Fantastic results.

With Doug Evans' able guidance Minato has once again flared it nostrils, breathing fire. This sets us up well for the upcoming 2012 Nationals! Ganbatte!
